The Purus Foundation

Our Team

Toheed Fatima Ali

President, CEO and Founder

My name is Toheed Fatima Ali, though I go by Fatima. I am a medical graduate from Ontario, Canada, and I am also completing my MBA. Both paths have shaped the way I understand service: medicine has taught me the importance of compassion, dignity, and caring for people in vulnerable moments, while business has helped me think more intentionally about how meaningful support can be organized, sustained, and expanded.

The Purus Foundation grew from a simple belief that has guided me for as long as I can remember: no one should feel forgotten because they lack resources, support, or opportunity. What began with a focus on helping children has grown into a broader commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals and communities, including children facing barriers to education and families or individuals experiencing food insecurity and homelessness.

I have always wanted my work to leave people feeling seen, respected, and cared for. Through Purus, my colleagues and I aim to provide practical support, including food, educational resources, essential supplies, and assistance directed toward the specific needs of each community we serve.

I was fortunate to grow up with encouragement, safety, and access to opportunities, and I do not take that privilege lightly. Purus is my way of turning gratitude into action. Our goal is not simply to give, but to give with compassion, purpose, and respect for each person’s dignity. We hope to create opportunities, ease immediate burdens, and remind people that their circumstances do not determine their worth or the future available to them.

Mahnoor Gohar

Vice President and Director of Internal Relations

With a fervent commitment to addressing global health disparities, I am currently pursuing my medical degree while championing health equity initiatives. In an era marked by the challenges of globalization, I am deeply dedicated to leveraging my expertise in Global Health Systems alongside my background in biological and psychological health to serve as a beacon of change. My aspiration is to be a Global Health Leader, collaborating with both public and private entities to dismantle the barriers of poverty that hinder access to healthcare. I firmly believe that tackling intricate health issues demands an interdisciplinary approach, rooted in holistic solutions. Through advocacy for healthy public policies, fostering supportive communities, and enhancing health literacy, I strive to cultivate environments of wellness worldwide. Joining forces with Purus, I am poised to make meaningful strides in ensuring every child has equitable access to health, education, and safety, regardless of their circumstances.
